thirtyninehotel—a community-oriented multimedia space—ran from July 1, 2004, until January 31, 2014—five months shy of ten years. Located at 39 N. Hotel Street, the venue was instrumental in kickstarting Chinatown's long and fruitful creative and economic revitalization. It was open five days a week from 5 PM to 2 AM. It took a lot of effort to fill all that time with wonderful programming but we did our best. We spearheaded a very cool jazz night with the evocative group, The Newjass Quartet, which gave rise to a sudden revitalization of jazz performances at venues up and down the island of O’ahu. We hosted many of the most successful and long-running parties in the HNL scene: Kaleidoscope—a weekly showcase of live alternative bands; Shake & Pop and Soul Clap—operated by a dedicated crew of beloved local DJs; our signature parties—Lucky Tiger, Quiet Storm, Night Fever, and Space Truckin’; and a whole host of miscellaneous events that included large scale art exhibitions, live music, performance art, dance performances, multi-media performances by artists and musicians, fundraisers, weddings, birthday parties, lectures, workshops, scholarly talks, poetry readings, political gatherings, live painting and dance, and so much more. On July 20, 2024, we are getting together to celebrate the events and experiences we shared and enjoy another of our legendary parties.
This is a private, invitation-only party.
You can obtain an invite by offering a $50 donation which buys you attendance at the party, a tasty selection of alcoholic beverages designed by talented local drink alchemists + juices and water, and a delicious organic vegetarian buffet for when you get hungry after dancing so much.
The party will run from 7 PM to 12 PM the next day, so wear comfortable clothing and bring your dancing shoes.
There are only 200 tickets available and no guest list. Even the party organizers have to offer the requested donation.
This event will sell out, so RSVP early.
To obtain an invitation to this party, please follow these steps:
Fill out the RSVP form with your first and last name as it appears on your valid ID.
Be sure your RSVP name and your Venmo account name are the same.
If you are paying for more than one invitation, list the full names of your guests in the space allotted for that in the form.
